If you’re an author, you know you can submit your book to multiple categories on Amazon, besides the ones in the KDP panel. You just email them and ask them to. You also know that Amazon puts your books into categories sometimes separate from what you requested.
But, how do you find out what categories they’re listed in if they don’t all show up on your book’s Amazon page (and they don’t).
Below is a step-by-step guide that shows you how to view each category your book is in, complete with images.
Find the ASIN number for the book you want to look at. If you don’t know the ASIN or don’t have it documented somewhere, you can find it by going to the product page for the book and in the following area.
Scroll back to the top. In the Amazon Search Bar, make sure it has All in the dropdown menu. Paste your ASIN number there.
Hit the search magnifying glass. That will take you to a page like this:
Click on Books. You will have several sub-categories, like this:
Keep clicking on the categories until you can’t go any further. In books, there are relatively few sub-categories. Kindle Books, image below this first one will go deeper.
Some sub-categories have multiple sub-categories. You will need to go back up the path and track them all the way down the path to find out where your book is placed in each one. This book of mine, thankfully, doesn’t have a lot – but I probably should see what other categories to put it in.
