Craftsman, one of the badges that can be earned by Webelos Scouts, consists of several items that need to be completed, including constructing two different wood objects. There are a large selection of items that Webelos can choose from.

Required Tools

For a Webelo to get credit for the project, he must use a coping saw or jigsaw to cut pieces out; glue, nails or screws to put the pieces together; and paint or stain to color the wood.

Two Required Projects

A Webelo has to complete two of any of the following projects ideas to fulfill one of the requirements for the craftsman badge: animal cutouts, birdhouse, book rack, bread box, bulletin board, desk nameplate, garden tool rack, key rack, kitchen knife rack, kitchen utensil rack, lamp stand, letter holder, letter, bill and pencil holder, lid holder, measuring cup rack, measuring spoon rack, mailbox, napkin holder, notepad holder, recipe holder, shelf, tie rack, toolbox, towel rack or weather vane.

Final Project

Webelos are also required to make either a display stand, which can hold a trophy or award, or a frame to hold a picture or painting.

Important Note

The Webelo must complete the majority of work on the wood projects on his own, but should be supervised by an adult at all times while working on the projects.
