Another Game Goes the Way of the Dodo

The farewell party.  The past few years, it seems like it’s happening in too many games, and this year sees more games closing it’s doors, including what I had hoped to be an awesome game.  Black Prophecy shuts down September 26.

Launched a little more than a year ago in July 2011, Black Prophecy looked like promising competition to EVE Online even promising a station walking expansion in 2012 – similar to what EVE recently launched after several years of existance

The first few months made it seem like the game was doing pretty well, despite bug issues, and the development team had great plans for the future.

Then, at the end of August, Reakktor Media announced that the game was going to be shutting down within four weeks.  No real explanation was given in the announcement, other than the game was closing it’s doors, there would be in-game events to mark the end of the game.On Sept. 25,

Reakktor Media will be throwing a Shutdown Party starting at 2 p.m. EST on the EU servers and 9 p.m. EST on the North American Servers.  The game shuts down at 3 a.m. the following morning.

So if you played Black Prophecy in the past and want a chance to say good bye, be sure to log in on Tuesday.
